Last Winter Gala, we donated over 4,000 toys to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Collection. This year, we are looking to do even more.
Ways to Donate to the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program
Bring unwrapped donations to the Winter Gala on Thursday, December 12th. Marines will be standing by to collect your gifts. You can register here.
AFCEA DC made a list and checked it twice, a wish list that is. Visit our list on Amazon and purchase STEM toys that will be shipped directly to the chapter headquarters and added to the sleighs.
Toys for Tots boxes will be distributed to our sponsors and Board of Directors to collect donations in their offices. If you want a box for your office, contact the registrar.
To date, AFCEA DC's STEM Scholarship program has awarded 373 scholarships and $2.4M to local area students. And we are not done yet.
Every year, AFCEA DC uses the proceeds from the Gala to establish scholarships for graduating high school seniors in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, helping to foster a comprehensive, structured path for students in the government IT workforce. Since May 1989, AFCEA DC has awarded 373 scholarships totaling more than $2,400,000 to students from 112 area high schools going to 71 U.S. colleges.
In addition, AFCEA Washington, DC awards science teaching awards and supports McKinley Technical High School in its mission to become a nationally recognized STEM high school. Last year, the chapter donated $75,000 to McKinley Technical High School to assist with getting the school supplies and learning aids.
