Panel 1- Broadband Mobility
Military and civilian personnel working on defense installations increasingly are looking for broadband wireless access. The issue is the complexity of the environment. On any given day, users might be working anywhere from base housing or command posts to training areas, warehouses or flight lines. In this panel, representative from the Army and Air Force will discuss strategies for extending access to wherever end-users go—without compromising on performance or security.

Panel 2- Mobile Carriers
When it comes to delivering mobility and broadband access on military bases, partnership with industry is essential. In this session, representatives from AT&T, Milestone Communications, T-Mobile and Verizon will weigh in on questions related both to technology and government policy. What issues are making it difficult for the military to fully leverage broadband and what steps might be taken to deliver more effective services?
Moderator: Len Forkas, President of Milestone Communications

Panel 3- Mobile App Security
This panel will discuss the Department of Defense’s commitment to the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) process through standardization. Last month, the DOD took a major step toward establishing a baseline security standard for mission-critical mobile apps. The memo signed by John Zangardi, acting DOD chief information officer promotes reciprocity across the military and clarifies which apps need to go through this new approach.

Panel 4- Disaster Recovery/Lessons Learned
The devastating hurricanes in Houston, Florida and Puerto Rico highlighted the unique technical challenges that go into disaster recovery and relief efforts. Defense and civilian personnel depend on a broad array of information and services to guide their relief efforts, and yet the loss of infrastructure makes connectivity difficult at best. This panel will look at both the successes and lessons learned from this year’s storms and discuss emerging strategies for supporting recovery efforts.
