Mr. Dana Deasy is the Department of Defense Chief Information Officer (DoD CIO). He is the primary advisor to the Secretary of Defense for matters of information management, information technology, and information assurance, as well as non-intelligence space systems, critical satellite communications, navigation and timing programs, spectrum, and telecommunications.

Mr. Deasy previously held several private sector senior leadership positions, most recently as Global Chief Information Officer (CIO) of JPMorgan Chase. There, he was responsible for the firm’s technology systems and infrastructure across all of the firm’s businesses worldwide. Mr. Deasy managed a budget of more than $9 billion and over 40,000 technologists supporting JPMorgan Chase’s Retail, Wholesale and Asset Management businesses. He has more than 35 years of experience leading and delivering large scale IT strategies and projects, to include Chief Information Officer and Group Vice President at BP. 

Earlier in his career, Mr. Deasy served as CIO for General Motors North America, Tyco International, and Siemens Americas. He also held several senior leadership positions at Rockwell Space Systems Division, including as Director of Information Management for Rockwell’s space shuttle program.

He was inducted into the CIO Hall of Fame in 2012 and the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals Hall of Fame in 2013 and also named Transformational CIO in 2017.

Admiral Charles W. Ray assumed the duties as the 31st Vice Commandant on May 24, 2018. As the Vice Service Chief and Chief Operating Officer, Admiral Ray executes the Commandant's Strategic Intent, manages internal organizational governance and serves as the Component Acquisition Executive.

Prior to this appointment, Admiral Ray served as the Deputy Commandant for Operations, responsible for establishing and providing operational strategy, policy, guidance and resources to meet national priorities for Coast Guard missions, programs and services.

His previous flag officer assignments include Pacific Area Commander, Deputy Pacific Area Commander, the Fourteenth Coast Guard District Commander, service with U.S. Forces Iraq as Director of the Iraq Training and Advisory Mission for the Ministry of Interior, and the Military Advisor to the Secretary of the Department Homeland Security.

A native of Newport, Arkansas, he graduated from Coast Guard Academy in 1981. After an assignment as a deck watch officer aboard Coast Guard Cutter ACUSHNET (WMEC-167), he was selected for Naval Flight Training and earned his wings in 1984.

He served at six Coast Guard Air Stations from Alaska to the Caribbean accumulating over 5,000 hours of helicopter flight time. Admiral Ray was designated as an Aeronautical Engineer in 1988 and served as Engineering Officer at three stations and at the Aviation Logistics Center as the Program Manager for the development of the Coast Guard's Aviation Logistics Management System. He commanded Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen in Puerto Rico from 2002 through 2005. Admiral Ray is the longest serving active duty Coast Guard aviator which has earned him the distinction of being Coast Guard’s 25th Ancient Albatross.

His staff assignments include a tour as Chief of the Office of Performance Management at Coast Guard Headquarters followed by a tour as the Chief of Staff of the Fourteenth Coast Guard District. Admiral Ray earned a Master of Science Degree in Industrial Administration from Purdue University and a Master of Science Degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in Washington, D.C.

Admiral Ray’s personal awards include the Coast Guard Distinguished Service Medal, five Legion of Merit Medals, one Bronze Star Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, one Coast Guard Air Medal, three Coast Guard Commendation Medals, and the Coast Guard Achievement Medal.

Lieutenant General Bruce T. Crawford became the Army Chief Information Officer (CIO)/G-6 on 1 August 2017.

As the CIO, LTG Crawford reports directly to the Secretary of the Army, setting strategic direction and objectives for the Army network, and supervises all Army C4 (command, control, communications, and computers) and Information Technology (IT) functions. He also oversees the Army’s $10 billion IT investments, manages enterprise IT architecture, establishes and enforces IT policies, and directs delivery of operational C4IT capabilities to support warfighters and business users. As the G-6, he advises the Chief of Staff of the Army on the network, communications, signal operations, information security, force structure, and equipping.

A native of Columbia, South Carolina, LTG Crawford was commissioned through South Carolina State University’s Reserve Officer Training Corps program on May 28, 1986, after graduating as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He also holds a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.

During his 31 years of service, LTG Crawford has served in a variety of leadership positions at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels. In his previous assignment, he served as a Special Assistant to the Director of the Army Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Prior to that, he served as the 14th Commander, U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command and Aberdeen Proving Ground Senior Mission Commander, Aberdeen, Maryland. Prior to that, he served in the posts of J6, Director of C4/Cyber and Chief Information Officer, U.S. European Command; Commanding General, 5th Signal Command (Theater); and G-6, U.S. Army Europe in Wiesbaden, Germany. His command assignments include the 516th Signal Brigade, Fort Shafter, Hawaii; 82nd Signal Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq; and B Company, 51st Signal Battalion, 35th Signal Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

His key staff assignments include Director of the Coordination Group for the Chief of Staff of the Army, Pentagon, Washington D.C.; Division Chief of LandWarNet Integration for the Army CIO/G-6, Pentagon, Washington D.C.; Division Chief for Net Centric Assessments/Analysis Branch, later Executive Assistant to the J6, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington D.C.; and Assistant Operations Officer, and later Corps Emergency Deployment Readiness Officer, for the 35th Signal Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM, Saudi Arabia.

LTG Crawford’s awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), the Meritorious Service Medal (with four Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Commendation Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), and the Army Achievement Medal (with four Oak Leaf Clusters). LTG Crawford is authorized to wear the Combat Action Badge, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Ranger Tab, the Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge, and the Army Staff Identification Badge.

LTG Crawford and his wife, Dianne, have two sons, Bruce, Jr., and Corey.
